## Using King to control center file

 Diagram 1

Red to move.
Diagram 1 shown a composed game. Now is Red's turn.

In the surface, it seems that Red can play R1=5 to control the center file follows by P8=7 checkmate. However, Black has a trick to turn the situation if Red plays R1=5.
Let see how Black countrr attack!

Red R1=5 Black P3+1   K6+1   R5=4   K6=5   C5-6. Black canno n is able to capture Red chariot! Black sure win!

Since Red R1=5 is a weak move, then what is the best move for Red?

## Use King to assist on an attack

Red moves first.

As shown in Diagram 1, Black is threathering to checkmate with R7+2. If Red plays C2-8, of course can resolve the check, however this is a weak move.

Black could launch his attack by deploying his horse and pawns. Black would has gained huge advantages if Red plays R2-8.

Then, what is the best move for Red?

## Usage of King to control the  movement of opponent piece

As shown on the diagram 1, Red's pawn already stayed at opponent palace's centroid position. What need to be done by Red is to move his chariot to deliver the final kill.

However, Black has both of his cannons formation to block Red' chariot to deliver the check. Black's cannon can just follow the movement of Red's chaiot. For example if Red R7=6, C3=4, R6=1, C7=9. Both cannon is protecting each other.

Black need to find a trick to overcome this situation.

For below case, Red can utilize his King to control the movement of Black' cannon.
