In the first part of this book, I will explain each move for the selected games from the Xiangqi ancient manual. The purpose is to get readers understanding the beginning of "Same Direction Cannon Opening" and its evolution. In this post, we will discuss what would happen if Red did not play P3+1 in the early stage?

"XIANGQI Puzzles Five Moves Kill" is a book where readers are prompted to find a checkmate or stalemate in five moves. The book consists of 280 medium level puzzles. These puzzles are for those players that were getting the easy problems pretty easy but are still struggling with the hard problems.Each puzzle is uniquely designed with positions that players are likely to encounter on the board. The main variations of the solutions to the puzzles are presented at the end of the book. The simple variations of the solution are not shown, the readers are expected to work it out by his own.

## 1985 Wuyang Cup Xiangqi Tournament

The 5th Wuyang Cup was held on 4th - 14th January 1985 at Guangzhou. In this tournament, Yang Guolin was not participated due to his high age. As agreed by all participants and organizer, Lu Qin was represented Yang Guolin to compete in this tournament. Lu Qin is the student of Yang Guolin. During that time, Lu Qin was not China National Champion yet.

The tournament system was same as previous year.

Lu Qin defeated Li Laiqun with 2 wins 2 draws. In another group, Hu Ronghua defeated Li Dahua with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 lose.

In the final, Hu Ronghua defeated Lu Qin with 1 win 3 draws. Whereas, Li laiqun defeated Li Dahua in fast game.

I am almost finish my first draft of the book. Currently, I am writing the chapters for "Actual Matches play by Grand Masters" for Same Direction Cannon. Every move is explained with diagram.

## 1984 Wuyang Cup Xiangqi Tournament

The 4th Wuyang Cup was held at 4th-13th January 1984.

4 players were divided into 2 groups, the winner of the group would compete in final, whereas the losers would compete for 3rd place.

Hu Ronghua and Yang Guolin were in Group 1. The first 3 matches were draw. Hu Runghua defeated Yang Guolin in march 4. Hu Runghua enter into the final.

Li Laiqun and Lin Dahua were in Group 2. There first 2 matched were draw, and 1 win 1 lose for match 3 and match 4. Therefore, the final seat need to be determined by fast game. The first fast game was draw, Li Laiqun defeated Liu Dahua in second fast game. Lee Laiqui in the final.

In final, Li Laiqun defeated Hu Ronghua with 3 wins 1 lose, whereas Yang Guolin defeated Lin Dahua with 2 wins, 1 draw, 1 lose.

As a results, Li Laiqun was the champion; Hu Ronghua first runner up, Yang Guolin second runner up and Liu Dahua 4th place.

## 1983 Wuyang Cup Xiangqi Tournament

The 3rd Wuyang Cup was held on 20-30 January 1983. Since there was new a China National Champion, Li Laiqun on 1982, therefore 4 players were competed in this tournament.

4 players were divided into 2 groups, the winner of the group would compete in final, whereas the losers would compete for 3rd place.

In first group, Hu Ronghua defeated Li Laiqun with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 lose. In the second group, Li Dahua defeated Yang Guolin with same score.

In the final, Li Dahua defeated Hu RongHua with 1 win, 3 draws. For 3rd place, Yang Guolin defeated Li Laiqun with 2 wins, 1 draw, 1 lose.

There were total 16 games, enjoy!

## 1981 Wuyang Cup Xiangqi Tournament

#### During that time 1981, the players who competing were Yang Guolin, Hu Ronghua and Liu Dahua. The competition system was Double Round Robin system. The winner receives 2 points, draw each player receives 1 point, lose is 0 point.  In the first round, Li Dahua wins 2 games, Yang Guolin 1 win 1 lose abd Hu RungHua lose both games. In the second round, Hu Ronghua wins  both games, Yang GuoLin and Li Dahua both 1 draw 1 lose. Final results, Liu Dahua total 5 points and won the tournament. Hu RungHua 4 points as first runner up, and Yang Guolin 3 points for second runner up.
