#17 Same Direction Cannon Double Headed Snake Pawn Formation vs Double Ranked Chariot - Red H8+9, P7+1 variation.

#17 Same Direction Cannon Double Headed Snake Pawn Formation vs Double Ranked Chariot - Red H8+9, P7+1 variation.

Outcome: Advantage to Black

  1. C2=5  C8=5    2. H2+3  H8+7    3. R1=2  R9+1    4. H8+9  …………

Remember! Red H8+9 is not effective.
The correct move should be P3+1.

  4. …………  H2+3    5. C8=7  R1=2    6. P7+1  R9=4    7. P7+1  P5+1

Key move!

  8. P7=6  …………

In previous post, we had discussed Red P7+1 variation. The outcome would be advantage to Black.

How about Red plays P7=6?

  8. …………  R4+3

Correct move!

Black sacrifices his right horse to gain initiative!

  9. C7+5  H7+5   10. C7+1  C2+5   11. R9=8  R4-3   12. R2+6  …………

If Red played C5=7 to rescue his Cannon, Black would respond with P5+1. Black would have gained huge initiative although he has less material.Red would be in difficult situation.
Now Red plays R2+6 is to give back his cannon to Black.

 12. …………  R4=3   13. R2=3  H5+3   14. C5+3  A4+5   15. R3=6  R2+6

Key move!

 16. A6+5  R2=4   17. R6-3  H3+4

Current board status analysis:

1) Red's both horses and chariot are still remain in  player's side and hardly develop.
2) Black's main pieces are in strategic position. Black's horse is ready to deliver a checkmate by H4+3. Red need to respond to it.

Outcome: Advantage to Black.
