#13 Same Direction Cannon Double Headed Snake Pawn Formation vs Double Ranked Chariot - Red C8=6 variation.
Outcome: Advantage to Black
1. C2=5 C8=5 2. H2+3 H8+7
3. R1=2 R9+1
Both reaches Same Direction Cannon Filed Chariot vs Ranked Chariot variation.
4. C8=6 …………
As mentioned earlier, the most effective move for Red would be P3+1.
However, in this variation, Red plays C8=6.This is also a common mistake for Xiangqi Beginners.
Let see how to gain the advantages for this mistake.
Outcome: Advantage to Black.
4. ………… H2+3
Correct move. Black need to develop his right flank as soon as possible.Black is no hurry for R9=4.
5. H8+7 R1=2
As seen,Black's right chariot has been developed faster than Red's left chariot. This is the main reason for Black to play H2+3 in ply #4.
6. R9=8 C2+4
Key move. This is to limit the mobilization of Black left's chariot. This tactic often uses in opening.
After this, Red has two main variation.
a)A4+5
b)C6+5
In this chapter, we discuss A4+5 variation. We shall discuss C6+5 in next chapter.
7. A4+5 …………
Red tries to consolidate his central line.
7. ………… P7+1
To prevent Red C6+6.
8. R2+4 R9=2
Key move!
9. P3+1 R2+3
Current board status analysis:
1) Red's left chariot is hardly to develop due to limited places.
2) Due to Red left's cannon is blocking his own left's horse, the middle pawn only protecting by right's horse.
3) Red can not develop his left's horse by moving P7+1, Black would counter with C2=3! Red would be in difficult situation.
Outcome: Advantage to Black
